If you are going to enjoy the ambience for an upscale Hollywood-ish bar, stop by. Otherwise, if you are looking for a quiet dinner, good quality, minus attitude and good service, there are many more sushi bars in Manhattan Beach. The ambience was nice, but everything seemed very overpriced, the food was par, and the service was below par. Yeah, good bar scene, but that was about it. Very business like restaurant. Didn't feel the human touch or the warm welcome like the other Japanese owned sushi bars in Manhattan Beach like Octopus. If you want cheap rolls and rowdy scene, go to Fusion. Don't pay for what you don't get.

Pros: ambience, parking, location

Cons: quality of food, not worth your money, attitude

MY BOYFRIEND WHO HATES SUSHI AND I WHO LOVE SUSHI LOVED SASHI! HE ORDERED FROM THE ROBATA GRILL WHILE I ATE THEIR FANTASTIC SUSHI! THE SOUFLE DESSERT WAS AMAZING!

Pros: GREAT FOOD, GREAT BAR!

Cons: CROWDED BUT IT IS UNDERSTANDABLE

We didn't have to go to Hollywood and BH to get some amazing sushi - it was just less than mile from our home in Manhattan Beach. Me and my friend went out for drinks on a random Tuesday and we ended up choosing Sashi. We sat in the Lounge area and this (stunning) server with an accent gave us great recommendations such as the robatas, metlox roll and rice crispy tuna. She also had an expert recommend the best sake for us. After that, we sat at the sushi bar and luckily enough we sat right in front of Makoto – the sushi chef. He suggested the most high-quality sushi I have ever had, so fresh and the presentation was amazing. Good Job Sashi! I will be back again!

Pros: sushi, service, location

Cons: bit pricey

My friend and I went in for drinks on a late Sunday afternoon. It was so relaxing I could have stayed all night. The music and the ambiance were great. It was good service, but it didn't feel over bearing. The drinks were thoughtful and well executed. The two drinks that we ordered (VeeV Cooler and La Poire Fleur) were SO GOOD!!! I will definetely be back to try the food. I am excited that this Sushi + Sake restaurant is in the area.

Pros: Great music, friendly service, good drinks

Cons: A little pricey...but worth it

they say new york has the best sushi and i am one not easily impressed. sashi was just simply amazing. the service was attentive, and one of the highlights of the meal: you have to try the metlox roll. YUM. everything was really fantastic and love the selection of sakes. we had the winter cabin in the snow sake and it was a welcome change to the usual sake lists. the jidori spring rolls were also a nice surprise & gets your mouth watering for the next bite. i can't wait for my friends to visit here so i can take them out to this fabulous place & hang out like we used to in manhattan. loved it! thanks for an amazing time and celebration of our first dinner out here on the west coast.

Pros: service, ambiance, taste, inventive cuisine, excellent plating

Cons: if anything the food runners were a little abrupt & would have liked an explanation of the food presented. not a biggie all in all.

My first impression upon entering Sashi was its rich ambiance and friendly, attractive staff. I especially liked the hot pink glow in the bar that reflected beautifully off of the elegant array of Sake bottles -- very impressive! Speaking of Sake, Sashi is a Sake lovers paradise with so many to choose from, that they have a special Sake expert available for any questions you might have. She (the expert), chose the perfect Sake for us, light and crisp and compatible with our food. The food was excellent, with delicate flavors and lovely presentations. The fish dishes are wonderful, very fresh and good either raw or cooked. I also had the steak which was so tender with just the right flavor; a good contrast to all of the fish dishes that I tried. Our desserts were inventive, with light, interesting flavors such as the soy cheesecake and the green tea ice-cream. It was nice to have the lighter desserts that complemented the subtle flavors of the food. Sashi was a great food experience with a friendly, attentive staff, and a welcoming atmosphere. I would highly recommend it!

Pros: food quality to die for, ambience and then some, impeccable service

Cons: small portions for family style

Great scene, great food, good service, amazing ambience. We ate out on the patio which was very comfortable, even on a chilly nite. Our service was quick, the product knowledge has a ways to go, but I would expect that with a new and extensive menu. Sushi was great, but don't skip the robata grill or the desserts. I've been to most reputable sushi bars in LA, this is the best package.

Pros: parking, ambience

Cons: pricey

Took some friends to check out the new Manhattan Beach night life offerings this weekend. Liked it! Sashi is going to be part of the regular mix for us. Sophisticated crowd. Plenty of couples out for the evening. Some groups. The bar had some familiar local faces and regular "players" we see at Shade and Towne scoping the crowd for singles. Planned to, but never made it to Twelve + Highland which is nearby. In fact, "12" exploded on the scene and got lots of attention, but is turning out just to be a cathouse. We hope Sashi keeps it's reputation and refinement and doesn't become a flash in the pan. Regarding the food, it is similar to Petros and Upper Manhattan in quality. It's not open for lunch. The dinner menu is great. But to be frank, although it's a more sophisticated atmosphere, the service was a bit slow (as you could expect because it's not been open long). Despite the slowness, the staff was really friendly and helpful. We'll be back. Good job Sashi.

We went to Sashi the first week it opened and we thought the food was great but the service was at best bad. They FIXED it!! We had a great time. The food was amazing, service was perfect and we really enjoyed our night. Good work on correcting the service. We love Sashi and will be back.

Pros: Food, Atmosphere, Sake

Cons: Not opened for lunch yet

We finally gave in and drove down to meet our Manhattan Beach friends for dinner last night. They have been talking about their new sushi restaurant for a couple of weeks and we figured we owed it to them after all of our Katsuya dinners in Brentwood. We were very impressed. The sushi and robata was excellent. We tried some great sake that no one had ever had before. But the stand out dish was the hamachi toban-yaki (sp?). Amazing! The restaurant was packed which made for great people watching but didn't help the speed of service. All in all, we had a great experience and will come back.

Pros: Great Food, Beautiful Restaurant, Fun People Watching

Cons: We no longer have an excuse to drag our MB friends to Brentwood
