Editorial Review for Santa Monica Main Street Farmers' Market – by Martha Burr
In Short
The vast selection of top organic and gourmet fruits and veggies will fill your hemp tote before you've hit half the stands at this always busy market that's more party-in-the-park than shopping in the street. Depending on the season, shoppers can find perfectly ripe heirloom tomatoes, vibrant strawberries and black mission figs. Even the most jaded palate will be thrilled by the rainbow of produce, especially purple potatoes, white sweet corn and golden beets. Vendors also sell packaged goods like rennet-free cheeses, raw milk, artsy clothing, baby wear and handmade jewelry. There are also pony rides for tots.

In addition to selling fresh local produce at very reasonable prices, this market also features hot meals from local eateries. On offer are crepes, omelettes, tamales, other mexican food, coffee, pancakes, paninis, and just about everything else you could want for breakfast or lunch. The plates aren't too cheap, so keep your bargain hunting restrained to the produce, but for 7 or 8 dollars a plate, enjoying some delicious food accompanied by live music on the lawn is a pretty sweet deal. The place is absolutely crawling with bicycle riders and little kids and seems like a great place to spend a Sunday morning for both parents and toddlers. Parking looked like it should have been a nightmare but ended surprisingly well. Worth a look!
Pros: Cheap Fresh Produce, Good Food, Live Music and Family Fun
Cons: Parking
