Editorial Review for Priscilla's Coffee Tea & Gifts – by Michelle R. Phipps
In Short
Deftly surviving the chain-coffeehouse onslaught, this local coffee house is a popular spot for those writing scripts, reading books, holding mini-meetings or just people-watching. It's part cafe and part novelty store, selling funky cards, calendars, boutique kitchenwares and cow kitsch alongside drinks and sweets. An outside walk-up window caters to the on-the-go crowd and patio patrons. In addition to coffee, the kitchen serves smoothies, fresh sandwiches, salads and homemade breads like pumpkin and zucchini.

Insider Tips
The ExtrasComputers are available at the counter for internet use. Patrons with their own laptops can get online with the purchase of an internet card.
ParkingThe small lot in the rear is available nights and weekends. There is additional parking through the alley and to the west along the fence behind the theater.
When to GoWeekend tables are hard to come by, as customers tend to stay put once they get one. Try coming early, or develop a keen eye for people wrapping up.

I absolutely love Priscilla's and go there almost every day. Their baristas are extremely cool, very polite and super friendly. None of them ever gave me any attitude or was rude. There are a lot of industry people come there to write whatever they are writing on their laptops but it does not bother me at all. What crowd can you expect if the coffee shop is located pretty much across the street from the studios?! I like their coffee. It is much better than Starbucks. It can get a little bit crowded on weekends but i've never waited too long to get a table. Never had problems finding parking either.
Pros: coffee, atmosphere, parking, free internet

I'm actually pretty surprised to read some of the negative comments in this section. This is a great spot for all of the reasons you go to a coffee shop: free internet, great coffee, yummy pastries, great people watching, and a place to sit and read, write or meet with a friend. I know people who move away from the area and long for a place like this. It's really a sweet spot to hang out. It's true...very industry...but it's not pretentious. I think it's pretty ironic when people live, oh, 3 blocks from 5 major studios and complain that it feels too "industry". If you don't like the vibe, then move to Northridge or Simi Valley...there's plenty of vanilla strip mall suburbia waiting for you. Honestly, still the best Hot Chocolate around...and I'm quite an experienced coffee house girl. Priscilla's is a refreshing space in our city of Starbucks lined streets. Enjoy!
