A New Italian Dining Experience- Fab's Italian Kitchen in Sherman Oaks

  • Mouthwatering Italian Cuisines
  • Sheek Wine & Martini Bar
  • Classy & Elegant New Look

Fab's Italian Kitchen has reopened its posh doors to the public and is classier, tastier & even more elegant than ever. Fab's has continued to keep its traditional Italian dishes but has changed its design & dinning experience. With a new private dinning room and a wine bar that is filled with numerous options as well as entertainment nights featuring jazz nights and show case artists, this new & improved Italian restaurant will surely become your new favorite dinning spot.

Start your meal off with the Clams Oreganato which is fresh baked clams, topped with bread crumbs, parmigiano, fresh parsley & oregano, in clam broth. Then follow that up with the Bolognese which is ground beef, pork, veal, pancetta, tomatoes, carrots, onions, celery, garlic, butter, heavy cream & red wine. Make sure you leave room for the house gelato which is a trio of bittersweet chocolate, vanilla & sour lime.

Editorial Review for Fab's Italian Kitchen – by Citysearch Editors

In Short
This bright, expansive eatery feels like a tourist restaurant, replete with paper "tablecloths" to mop up inevitable splatters. Apron-clad servers cart out a wide variety of simple fare, including starters like chopped salad to pair with piping-hot sourdough rolls, or giant bowls of calamari with marinara. Melted mozzarella is served with the same chunky sauce. Sausage- and pepper-topped pasta comes in a hearty sauce. The house gelato is a trio of bittersweet chocolate, vanilla and sour lime.

After waiting for years for Fab's to reopen, my wife and I booked a table to celebrate our anniversary. When we arrived, the hostess tried to seat us at a table at the bar even though the place was practically empty. The owner had assured us that the kitchen would continue to prepare all of our favorites, but, when we asked for one of our favorites, the server told us "no," then brought an inedible version of the dish anyway. Service was so slow that the meal took over two hours to complete. The old Fab's was a family-friendly place with paper on the tables and an accessible menu. The new incarnation has gone upscale, but, in part because its food has not changed, comes off as pretentious and sort of fake. I really lament the restaurant's change in tone and attitude.

Pros: Family friendly dishes in an inefficient, not-so-family-friendly Bistro atmosphere

Cons: Pretentious redesign does not accommodate former clientele; service stinks

I use to be a big fan of the old Fabs. I waited all the months it took to reopen. What I loved the best about Fab's the warm bread rolls and the chicken seasame. Guess what, they don't serve that anymore. We had asked the owner why and he indicated the bread was not easy to get so they just ordered a different one. As for the chicken, they took it off the menu. The menu was disappointing. It looks like they have gone to easier things to prepare like salads and sandwhiches. The service was slow, and I can't imagine why they think they needed to put a bar in the resturant, this is not the type of place you hang out at int he evenings. I will not return and think it should have stayed closed.
