Editorial Review for Spa at Equinox Century City – by Melissa Gage
In Short
Moving into the space formerly occupied by Spa Mystique, Equinox fitness club's spa features ten massage rooms, two Shiatsu rooms, four rooms dedicated to facials, two body treatment areas and a mani/pedi suite. The service menu is equally staggering, with five maternity-specific treatments, six services designed for men, and ten spa packages. After getting buffed, polished, detoxed and kneaded, spagoers are welcome to use the gym's fitness facilities or kick back at the hotel pool.

Insider Tips
Know Before You GoNo need to be a member of Equinox fitness club--the spa is open to the public.
Look GoodThe spa's LED HandSpa Anti-Aging treatment uses light emitting diodes to stimulate collagen production and erase signs of aging; younger-looking digits are then topped off with a manicure.
FacialsWhile age erasing, complexion cleansing and back polishing facials are popular, the spa's most lavish treatment is the 80-minute Ultra-Luxe Diamond Experience featuring three targeted facial massages.
Body TreatmentsRenew energy with an invigorating Banya Ritual, including a warm scrub, application of a cooling lotion to increase circulation and a Russian massage designed to melt tension and strengthen joints.

I am at a spa at least once a month. Not only was this spa confusing in layout (as many have already mentioned) the staff's lack of attention to detail was pathetic! The only person that did his job well was Justin, a host that greeted me upon check in and check out. They asked me if I wanted a robe and slipper upon arrival....OF COURSE! This is standard at a spa! Not to mention the robe was see through and super thin! The showers in the locker room were a joke, while the shower heads were too big for the stall, the water kept getting hot and then cold for the duration of my shower (and I even switched shower stalls mid shampoo because I thought it might be that particular shower -- it wasn't!). I had two treatmtents, the first therapist had only been working at the spa for one month and she was horrible! Not to mention at the end of my treatment she suggested that I refer her name to my friends in order for her to builder her client list! AS IF! And the second treatment i had, the therapist didn't even ask me any questions! It was clear she failed to look at my paperwork because it clearly indicated to focus on my fact muscles (which she didn't!). I was so mad that I spent my hard earned money at this spa, i'll NEVER GO BACK! Upon check out (which is entirely confusing) the register was freezing up, so after 15 minutes of waiting (and listening to the check out host say the F- word more than 5 times) the manager came down but offered no help. I ended waiting over 20 minutes to check out and left with such a bad taste in my mouth I promised myself that I'd forwarn others about this place. USE YOUR MONEY SOMEPLACE ELSE! It's obvious they don't care about their jobs! Oh, and I forgot to mention that they were 15 minutes late to get me in the waiting room for my 2nd treatment! REALL PROFESSIONAL!
Pros: Good location in Century City
Cons: LACK OF MANAGEMENT

After reading the reviews on CitySearch, I was somewhat hesitant to go to the Spa at Equinox. I have to say I was actually very pleasantly surprised. The layout was not all that confusing - I check in at the front desk, where they led me to the very plush locker room and pointed me to where the spa waiting area was. After heading upstairs I was greeted at the spa reception area and escorted to the waiting area. The waiting area was very modern and soothing, and even had an outside cabana area that ran adjacent to the Hyatt Regency. My massage therapist was very good, and my overall experience was positive. I can see some criticisms in terms of flow - it is not the most intuitive process, and they could streamline.
Pros: Good Therapist, Modern Design, Outside Cabanas for Spa Reception Area
Cons: Layout is not particularly intuitive
