In Short
Walls covered with decades of Top-40 memorabilia, rock songs blaring in the background and an all-American menu typify this music-themed restaurant. The kitchen churns out group-friendly appetizers like nachos and Southern staples like barbecue ribs and chicken. Burgers are served with hefty sides of fries and the signature pulled-pork sandwich is topped with vinegar barbecue sauce. The gift shop sells branded items like T-shirts, shot glasses and hats.

Having not gone to Hard Rock since I was a pre-teen, my memory is a bit hazy as to how loud the place really was back then. We went (6 of us) on a Monday evening and the place was pretty empty...I'm thinking maybe it was the lack of crowd to absorb the audio that caused the incredibly loud ambient noise. It was so loud that by the time I was almost done with dinner I was nauseous (and I'm a 25 year old female who should NOT be that sensitive to loud music). Besides the surprisingly annoying "background" music, the crew was fantastic and the food was good. Their seasoned fries are delicious and makes up for the slightly higher price ranges for what other reviewers call "bar food."You're eating at a tourist hangout, so of course it'll be a bit elevated. Ultimately the Hard Rock offers a great experience, but just don't go there expecting to have any sort of conversation with your group. The patio is a bit quieter, so if it's a nice night, grab a spot out there.
Pros: Outgoing servers, full bar, decor
Cons: Loud, busy on weekends, empty on weekdays

Hard Rock Cafe is one of the few places within the Universal Studios Citywalk that I would recommend. I would typically go for lunch and was always satisfied with the service, food, and portions. Granted, it's nothing upscale, but serves good burgers and bar food. The staff are friendly and happy to have anyone come through the door during the daytime. The Hard Rock brand is well maintained at this location. I enjoy the big open feeling of the place.
Pros: Energetic
